GETTING HERE

UNSPOILED, BUT NOT REMOTE

PG is the southernmost town in Belize, and the 'capital' of the Toledo District. Once an outpost reached by boat, it is today easily accessible by:

> c. 3-4 hours' by car or bus on the Coastal Highway (repaving to be complete mid-2023)

> c. 5 -6 hours' by car or bus on the Southern Highway (still probably the best paved road in Belize!)

> c. 60 minute commuter flight from Belize City and points in between

> c. 60 minute water taxis from Puerto Barrios and Livingston

Get creative, and mix and match to suit your itinerary and budget!

> Two-stop vacation in Placencia and Toledo? Look at booking a (cheaper and shorter) Tropic Air return flight to Placencia, and travel down to Toledo by rental vehicle, or by Hokey Pokey/James Bus.

> Coming from Cayo? Take a shuttle to Dangriga or Placencia and then fly, drive, or bus from there

> Traveling from Tikal? Take a bus down to Rio Dulce, and then take a water taxi from Livingston

PG DIRECTIONS TO HICKATEE

Your journey along the Southern Highway brings you through the village of Cattle Landing, along the Caribbean coastline with its great views of the Bay of Honduras and Guatemala, and into the town of Punta Gorda.

Follow Front Street through town, past the Uno Gas Station on your right, through the food vendor area, past Peter Claver School, and then turn right immediately past the St Peter Claver church. Take the next left onto Main Street, and continue past the hospital  on your right and bear to the right where the road becomes Cemetery Lane.

Proceed down Cemetery Lane for a further two blocks and, when you reach the small children's park, turn 'half-left' into Ex-Servicemen Road (aka Boom Creek Road). As you leave the outskirts of the town, continue on the main road and Hickatee Cottages is just one mile further on the left-hand side of the road.

You can also find our location marked accurately on google maps.

However, we recommend using our directions listed above for the 'best route' option.
