Pack for a Purpose
We are proud members of Pack for a Purpose, an initiative that allows travelers like you to make a lasting impact in the community at your travel destination. If you save just a few kilos of space in your suitcase and take supplies for the projects we support in need, you’ll make a priceless impact in the lives of our local children and families.
The Toledo District in Southern Belize is home to approximately 50,000 residents, of which children and youth make up the largest population. Financial constraints limit families from buying the necessary supplies, and many of the village communities have few shops nearby so this is truly a valuable gift for the students, parents and teachers alike!
Bags already packed but you want to participate? We are happy to work with you on options to participate in this special program. Please reach out to us at hickatee@gmail.com and we can provide you with some local options.
Hickatee Cottages collects school supplies, sporting supplies/equipment and other school friendly items and distributes them to local schools in the Toledo District.
